How well are you at learning new words? Can you learn them on the spot or do you use flash cards as an assistance?

I personally have used Anki on and off for the past few years. I think it helps but I hate using it, it's always a pain in the butt to drudge through the words (and math problems, and anything else I am using it for).

Sometimes I think I should just maybe write the definitions down and read them occasionally or something. Idk.

I write down words I don't know into notepad. When there's like a 1000 words there I'll begin the process of learning them.

Anyone should be able to learn at least 10 new words a day, easily.

Yeah I think my problem with Anki is that I don't learn the words beforehand, I just copy the definitions in a flash card then I flash the cards in front of me before I am sick of seeing them.
