Tell a 6-9 year old kid to make up a story and tell it to you. You'd be amazed. If you got answer here. I asked my 8 year old cousin and got this:
One day the squirrel Gerald was in the school and suddenly Tom came, then he got out and found Tom eating germs as always. He went to his house and when he turned on the TV the news report said his parents had been lost. Tom with his brother lom which lives in the dumpster went to find the parents. They fought the dragon and the monsters, but Tom made his shirt dirty and had Togo back and change. In the house there were his parents. They said they had been shopping. The news report appeared again and said:
'Haha Tom you idiot its April fools today"

Yeah, because children normally don't develop conscious criticism until later into adolescence. Anything young children say, especially when it's a product of their imagination, is typically done so via stream-of-consciousness.
