I felt this book suffered from too broad a scope. It felt like a summary of what happened rather than a more personal story. I didn't really feel like I got to know any of the kings and it started to get repetitive when most of the kings lives were boiled down to "he started off great, got into fights with barons over money, either won or lost wars, and then fucked up his succession." A book of similar length about, say, Henry II and Beckett, would've been more interesting in my opinion.

Did you read the followup book?

I have not, I know the Wars of the Roses cover a much shorter time period so does it suffer less from the problems I mentioned? I wanted to read about this period but I was planning on reading someone other than Jones, someone a little less pop.

I haven't read it yet but my friend who is more of a history buff than me liked it, so take that as a recommendation for what it's worth.
I read this one, but there was too many info in every page, lacked detail
The intro about the14th century was great tho
