What does /lit/ think of Chekhov?
>grew up in poor home with abusive father
>put himself through medical school by writing
>full-time doctor, who treated poor patients for free, while still writing god-tier work
>disciplined, humorous, unpretentious, humble, and extremely talented
Aside from being a brilliant write, I think he's a great role model for aspiring writers.

The Student changed my life.
Three Years is basically Realism in it's purest form. It's also probably his most autobiographical story. I love it so much, and it makes me sad how few people alive even know it exists.
I prefer his non-plays works.

he's extremely underrated

By who?

he's almost never talked about on here. the few people who talk about him speak extremely highly of him though, so i guess "underrated" is not the right word. but he should be discussed here more

not to mention he was aesthetic af.
I need to reread him to see if I can get anything out of his works.
