Why don't Ligotti and all the other philosophical pessimists of his mindset kill themselves? I don't understand their reasons. It's always something like
>Well it's a meaningless act just like anything else
>It's life-affirming
>It's absurd
What are they even saying? Why does any of that matter? Am I just too big of a brainlet to understand, or are they just making excuses?

They're afraid of death. They say they aren't but they are.
because suicide is hard
if suicide was as easy as pressing a button, say, half of the population would be dead by 20

Ay, there's the rub.

You don't understand evolution.

Would upvote unironically

>Why don't Ligotti and all the other philosophical pessimists of his mindset kill themselves?
Why would he? It takes more effort to die than to just continue your state of being and there is more pleasure to be found in life than death
>>9821515
>it's harder to die
No, it isn't. Literally go to a tall building and jump off the top floor.
>there's more pleasure in life
That's the thing about Schopenhauer and his dudes, they disagree.
>>9821520
Have you tried it? It's not that easy.

We're talking about mental effort not physical effort, its one thing to rationally deduce something as true its another thing to go against all primal instinct and doubt to carry through on its conclusions. The pain of struggling towards that ends appears to be unworth its effort compared with just waiting for the inevitable in quiet desperation
He is a Fifth Column for non-existence. He is an enemy of our state (existence) and spends his time spewing propaganda against existence either until he is expelled (censored, arrested) or until non-existence relieves him from duty and appoints someone else to his position.

no, they don't.

>not realizing they're actually guerilla Christian puritans undermining secular materialism from within
Get with the program my dude

To kill yourself is to hold a concrete opinion that death is preferable to living. The issue is that death is unknowable: you don't know what's there. You don't know whether you'll "win" or "lose" with a suicide, but some day you're still going to die. Hence, the rational choice is to not kill yourself prematurely.
