Why do people hate Analytic Philosophy?
fuck off shill
>>9819300
It's certainly less sexy than political philosophy, especially the continental, socialist utopia varieties. It's less sexy than old humanist utopianism as well. Most average people have nothing to gain from Analytic philosophy, it doesn't promise them anything.
Brainlets.
>>9819300
Requires too much concentration and you can't just brush off what you don't understand like continental philosophy
>>9819300
Just because lmao
literally the only arguments /lit/ has against analytic philosophy is "autism" and "look weird math symbols, hurr durr positivist strawman, gotcha!" when they don't realize that analytic philosophy is much more widespread than they realize and the hotbed in professional philosophy for a reason
>>9819300
Too slow
>>9819300
/lit/ stays away from Analytic Philosophy because it is less literary than Continental Philosophy.
>>9819300
they hate because it's packaged as another tribe, most """intellectuals""" are tribal cretins fueled by fantasy and misinformation, well, most of humanity is really.
Because it's a bunch of autistic people telling you they're not able to convey meaning meaningfully, autistic people playing games of their own invention for their own amusement, or self-assured smug moralizing about why we need to be good liberals. Almost all of them are Jewish, too, which is weird until you realize that it's literally a school of thought founded by people who fled or were expelled from Germany during the run-up to the Holocaust or the Holocaust itself.
>>9819631
These are arguments though.
>>9819300
They're not smart enough to know the requisite math and philosophy.
Also, most people go into philosophy to promote an agenda. These days it's gender and race equality bullshit. While it has infected analytic philosophy to some extent, the peer review process keeps the least responsible/most radical voices out. With Continental philosophy, peer review is virtually non-existent.
What questions does analytic even set out to answer? Seems like a turbo autistic analysis of words and their logical relations.
I prefer continental because it's relevant to daily life.
>>9820919
analytic philosophy seems less defined by the questions it targets and more by the approach it takes to clarifying ideas/thoughts etc., whence the turbo autistic logic fetish.
math
It is the only worthwhile philosophy prove me wrong
>>9822700
I mean I could prove you wrong just by pointing out that analytic philosophy didn't come out of a vacuum and in fact rests on many other important thinkers who aren't analytics like Aristotle and Hume, so if you consider Analytic philosophy the only worthwhile philosophy, then you won't even be able to understand Analytic philosophy itself, let alone those other thinkers
>>9822700
>Rorty
>Habermas
>Gadamer
Just one of the worthwile philosophies.
Analytic philosophy is better, but it's also too dependant on formal language and technicalities aka autism
