Pure shit talk but in the best of ways. I'm sure you could deduce some humanist values from it but tbhq it's priceless for the laughs. One of the few classics I didn't have to fight to find the humor in. Leagues beyond Swift, Voltaire, or some dumbshit hack satirist like that. More valuable than Cervantes at times. Also forgot to add, go with the penguin classic edition. Easier to jump around and skim. i'd stick to the major sections (intros, famous scenes, endings). I'm sure you could find a worthwhile syllabus online (look at Oxbridge or Harvard for Renaissance courses).
