I'd suggest learning the writing system and phonology absolutely first. It'd be stupid to learn words before learning how to write them. Then find some site for learning Russian that has a focus on grammar and shit like that, rather than "helpful phrases related to traveling if you get the subscription". Also, you can use Duolingo, but not as a primary source.

I'm interested about this too but i want to learn German. Is silly TV-shows still the best way to go for learning a new language?
