My dearly grandfather has passed away this monday. I'm heartbroken, so are there some stories about characters who has suffered a loss? Also, I'm interested to stories about the dealing with the grieve.

Proust's novel (specifically, vols. III and IV) has the best treatment of the death of a relative and the associated grief that I have ever read.

The stranger and the death of Ivan illych
Sorry for your loss OP. Joan Didion has two excellent books on losing loved ones. When her husband died she wrote The Year of Magical Thinking. Her daughter died a year later, so she wrote Blue Nights. Before you read these you should know that they won't cheer you up, both are extremely depressing.
