I want to read some Hunter S Thompson, but more focused on his ideology than his political stuff.
Where's a good place to start?

Fear and loathing is awesome, and so is hells angels.
The thing is, though, and this is coming from an enormous hunter fan, his ideology is nearly impossible to separate from politics. He was obsessed with politics, much more than philosophy, like the gurus of his time that he largely criticised. He was quite grounded in that sense, observing what was going on between people rather than within them.
