jesus christ i thought people were just being edgy hating on that book
I have to admit, as bad as this novel is, as annoying as it is, as cringey as it is, as cliched as it is, etc, I have to at least praise the author for sticking to his ideal of writing a 1980s tribute novel despite how many groans etc he probably knew he'd get when published. It was a fun book to read, very cringey but very fun too. His control of plot was great, and it's comfy in a way.

No. These people inhabit their own Redditverse. He probably had a legion of epic-bacon selfsuckers cheering him along every step of the way.
