If the apostrophe comes after an S do you drop the following S? Like is it...
"She was standing in Tess' apartment."
or...
"She was standing in Tess's apartment."
Thanks! :3
depends if it's singular or not i think
You definitely drop the S.
It's most fashionable to drop the extra 's' now but used to be different.

dropping the extra 's' is a black thing, they also drop the 's' on possessives, except for when it's not needed like saying "mines"..."that daquan phone, but dis mines"

i didnt make a value judgement, just telling you where that comes from
I don't drop it because I think it's stupid. Seriously, there's no good grammatical (non-aesthetic) reason to not add the 's.

If this isn't a joke, the real answer:
Drop "s" after plural ending in "s"
Keep "s" after singular ending in "s"

According to the undergrad grammar course I attended last semester you should always keep the s at the end, the only exception being in the case of well-known historical figures. (Australia btw)
