This is easily one of the most poorly written books I've ever read. Is it some sort of white/American guilt that compels people to read it?
read it for a college lit class. i dont remember it being so bad. and good luck finding a man booker shortlisted novel that isnt about how evil straight white american men are

Life of Pi won the Man Booker, and it's not about that, fuckhead

>It's a Jewish white genocide thing.
This.
The jewish publishing industry is trying to make good-thinking whites believe mudslimes are just like them so we'll accept more of these inbred savages into our countries and decrease the number of enemy combatants Greater Israel has to face as it continues to expand. This is prime jewish tribal strategy, zionist and diaspora.

maybe if you read it on a deeper level than the sparknotes summary you skimmed through you would realize that it is, fuckhead

OP here, that's the reason I read this book. The problem is the other books we read are much better, quality wise. I'm wondering why the department is making us study such a poorly constructed novel.

So it's not about the utility of choosing faith in spite of a harsh reality? Explain I me how life of Pi is about "how evil straight white American men are", because I'm struggling to recall many of those as players in the story pi tells.

For muh diversity points probably. Found out my university is using it as required reading for all freshmen and while I'm not surprised, I am a little annoyed/disappointed.

that's pretty shitty that our education is being sacrificed for nothing more than virtue signaling.
I've literally read this book 3 times in two days trying to find anything positive about it because I really can't accept that universities can be this backwards.
I thought americans read shit like beowulf, chaucer, homer, joyce, etc in high school?
Why are you reading this in university?
