I love this genre, historically accurate, but written as a novel, with a pinch of personification.

Anything by Max Gallo

Right now, reading pic related, and loving it, his other titles look nice, I'll probably follow up with that.

Anyone can recommend more books/authors like this? I'd like to find out more about the Persian empire especially.
