Im a Christian, I don't personally care if it's right or wrong. Christianity is for me practicing a desire to interact with the spiritual, and none of the inconsistencies are enough to make me disbelieve.
Judaism is caught up in mythic history more, and Islam is even more obvious fan fiction than Christianity is (reading the early accounts of Muhammad's life is pretty revealing.)

I've read it. It has a lot to offer about his own mental health and it's often delivered through the personification of his conscience (the bad side, mostly).

There is a lot of sex, to the point where I felt it was gratuitous, but the intense amount of it as well as some of the more unusual events in the book provide a blurring effect which makes it difficult to distinguish the facts and autobiographical elements from the urban legends and fiction. It's a pretty fascinating book but it's nowhere near as brilliant as Miles Davis' autobiography.

I know /pol/ doesn't like the alt light books, or alt light itself, but I feel a mix of light reads and heavy reads is helpful for those not willing to read the "bigger pills" so to speak.

i think that there are definitely apologists who try to intellectualize and explain their position and some of them do it pretty well but the real truth is that religion as a whole, and i think christianity is pretty hard on this, is self-aware enough to know it's baloney. like there aren't that many people who are that fucking stupid. i know there's this sort of trend in nerd communities that it's like 'haha everyone's an idiot but me they're exactly that dumb' but the truth is that the truth just plain does not matter to most people. it's comforting, it gives community, it makes life feel more interesting and purposeful. is it lazy? fuck yes. is it cowardly? yeah pretty much. but it works for them, and that's really all they give a shit about.
