What does /lit/ think of this collection?
Are they worth reading? Will I become a learned man?

I've never known anyone to have actually read the book themselves. I keep a collection for aesthetic purposes and read annotated/better translated copies of the same books.

So the books are good, but translations have improved since 1910
I work at an antique auction business and we just had a set of these come in the other day.
I picked up 2 years before the mast in the bargain bin of my local bookshop and have been enjoying it. I was thinking of reading the rest as the idea behind the collection sounds interesting.
Just ordered the volume on epics and sagas; staying away from Victorian translators so won't be getting more volumes. Great Books of the Western World is similar to Harvard Classics and has more modern translations, but GBotWW didn't have Beowulf.
