The Russian relationship with the Bible is a lot different than the Western relationship with the Bible.

A Russian framing creates essentially a different Jesus, with different emphasis on Jesus' suffering.

So reflect on Jesus' suffering and imagine you live in a cold place where your ancestors were fucked by the Tsars, your grandparents were fucked up during the revolution, your parents were fucked up by Stalin and by the Germans, and where people you know are paranoid about being sent to Siberia. Also where reflecting on Jesus at all is essentially frowned upon because of state sponsored atheism.
