Yea that's totally why people like watchmen because it's "really long". Good job for ousting yourself as a retard

Hamlet was an infinitesimal behind in second. If it weren't for pt. 2—what I call the subaquatic torrent that buoyantly directs Faust—then Hamlet would have assuredly stolen top spot.

comics arent literature, id say that the most artistic aspect relies on the style and aestethic sense
read sandman, nice story, nice style, nice drawings

Only because I envisioned many scenarios of mutilating your dead corpse.
I decided to make the categories specific enough that everyone will have something to argue about.
Contemporary Western: Thus Spoke Zarathustra
Modern Western: Leviathan
Ancient Western: Gorgias
Oeuvre: Plato
Non-phil lit: The Catcher in the Rye
Treatise: Vom Krieg or Natural Right and History (depending on how optimistic I feel on a given day)
Religious: KJV Bible (Other translations are arguably better, but this is a point of preference)
Play: King Lear (No Exit deserves an honorable mention though because I like Sartre's writing style, despite his tendancy to navel-gaze)
Film: Apocalypse Now redux
Doc: Restrepo
Honorable mentions: Synecdoche NY, Ran
Album: Plux Quba
Song: 05

for example compare the lettering in watchmen to the lettering in sandman. it's much less consistently written but shines in other aspects. having top lists is literally for teenagers and youtuber/moviepilot/watchmojo tier adults.
>>9768953

Literally baby's first arthouse film. All the hipsters watched in while in school.
It's good but it's little better than a 6.5/10 and you're not persuading anybody otherwise.

The use of symbolism - directly inspired by Alchemy, Religion, Freudian psychology and Mythology - is brillant. Claiming that the guy who wrote the Pusher Trilogy is nothing but a guy who makes visually interesting films is a stupid and profoundly superficial idea. >>9772563

I'm of the strange opinion that the original can't be ruined.
Original Star wars wasn't made worse cause of prequels.
Old Testament is still the Old Testament.
2005 King Kong is better than last years.
I don't understand the hatred of going back to old characters in new places. Sure if they're bad they're bad, but the new doesn't degrade the old.
It's like reversed original sin.

How the fuck is it boring, I don't understand this. It's so whimsical but grounded, moving from scene to scene like a childhood adventure novel. I loved it. Not to mention being one of the best period pieces and the best movie to ever be set in the 18th century. HOW IS IT BORING? It moves from one interesting scene to another, there is no fluff at all, even with its 3 hour running time
