This is somewhat comforting. Thinking that at some point Jesus and the apostles engaged in the dialectic, or were otherwise students of Plato. The parable of the widow's oil, for example, definitely has the hypothetical feel of a Platonic setup.

Expanding on this, I mean to say theology is a field of study made by guys who made a bunch of rules about how to properly misinterpret the source material, then proceeded to try to answer existential questions within this framework. They painted themselves into a useless corner. That's why all their arguments boil down to "well... have a mad faith and it's true."
