>journalism and 'journalists' in the 21th century
I remember the one thread about posting our studies that had some sad sack who wanted to be a journalist that focused on the European Union.

Did an internship at my local newspaper once. Literally the worst job I've ever done in my life.
More of a diarist desu

Not working as a journalist but had a lot of journalism seminars during my studies
it's kind of sad actually, they get still taught all the ethics, rules, morals etc., but as soon they get in the biz they throw it all over board to be competetive in the market

Worked in my college newspaper. I enjoyed the work but the atmosphere was really shitty and I ended up doing a lot of other people's work myself. All the journalism majors were too focused on sucking their own dick or skating by on minimal work. I was the only English major and it showed in my quality of work compared to the others.

I edit a trade magazine.
Recently I've been trying to freelance as a political journalist on the side, but I've had nothing published yet.

Most major newspapers actively avoid journalism majors. You can teach an expert in Middle Eastern relations how to write a lot easier than teaching a journalist and in depth knowledge of the Middle East.
