The Bible.

Start with How to Read Book by Mortimer Adler, make annotations and retain everything the books tells you. Then start by reading the greeks like Homer, Plato, Aristotle.

After that you can read the romans and church father like Virgil, Aquinas, Augustine. Then proceed to Scotus, Ockham, Dante.

After acquiring some ancient culture and reading through all of those authors you can start by reading modern good literature like Dostoyevsky, Tolstoy, Balzac, Proust, Joyce, Musil, Hugo, Goethe, Hesse, Mann, Shakespeare, Cervantes and so on.

And also the modern philosophers like Kant, Wittgenstein, Kierkegaard, etc.

I can also recommend some other specific books/author depending on your tastes.

if you're really committed my advice would be to start off with books you like. when you first start doing something you're really making a case for whether or not you wanna continue doing it, y'know? pretty much everyone who's an avid reader got into it because it was fun.
