You sound naive as fuck. Nudity in a post-pubescent girl is inherently sexual, and sexualizing people who shouldn't be having sex leads to problems. Cultures don't develop modesty in a vacuum.

Alright, but who's to blame for them not knowing? They are old enough to fuck up their lives by having sex, and yet they are ignorant of that possibility. Judging by your reaction, you would rather just cover them up and preach abstinence, rather than give them the tools and knowledge to safely do what they are biologically programmed to do.
>>
>>9753086
The problem isn't knowledge, it's the self-control that would be regulated by the prefrontal lobe, which hasn't been fully formed yet. Same reason you couldn't teach a tall 10 year old how to drive responsibly: the knowledge of how to drive is easy to impart, but the responsibility it necessitates requires a more developed brain.

This is the problem with you people, you dismiss perfectly reasonable and rational arguments because it might in some twisted and roundabout way lead circuitously to something that can be described as 'discrimination.' That's your primary concern. Not the effects a cultural of sexualization has on the psychology of a young girl who's yet to become woman. Not the importance of encouraging a culture that perceives women as mothers and coworkers, and girls as children rather than sex objects. If you guys want maximum freedom at the expense of a well-ordered and functional society, come out and say it. Don't hide behind "muh sexism!"

I was explaining my original statement of calling out your misogyny as having a scientific pretense and making a general statement about the abuse of science. Its a permutation of phrenology.
Look, real science and a legit path of inquiry would be statistical analysis of teen risk taking in different scenarios. Some vague statement about the brain that you read somewhere and clearly didnt understand then proceed to use conjecturally divorced from context isnt. Further, if you care about these issues why not argue that the producers of culture that sexualizes teen girls and oversaturates our media to the point where you 'reeee' in horror should change? Why punish girls? Educating and empowering women to think critically for themselves about these issues is perhaps a better approach.

...and "you people"? You can do better anon
>>
>>9753074
>How can anyone else not feel this?
By not being a virgin NEET who rarely interacts with others.
>>
>>9753320
There are two point of contention here. First, I'm not making a particularly complex scientific claim with regards to the relationship between a fully-formed brain and proper risk assessment. It's the argument child psychologists use to condemn the charging of children as adults in a court of law. We all instinctively understand that a 13 year old doesn't have the mental capacity to fully comprehend the severity of some of their actions. You don't even need to have a scientific pretense to this argument.

And second, I'm not asking for any girl to be punished. I specifically referred to 'culture' in my original post. Your entire point about laying the blame on society at large rather than individual girls misses the fact that that's exactly what I'm doing. I never called for individual girls or parents of girls to be punished.

>Educating and empowering women to think critically for themselves about these issues is perhaps a better approach.
My rejoinder to this is that yes, we should do this, but you can't really impart wisdom. Our culture still needs to find the sexualization of young girls to be taboo; we can't rely entirely on the self-worth and good-judgement of girls who are too young to even drive.

Making an appeal to our 'instinctual understanding' is an attempt to brush the subject under the rug. Do we educate children in a way that teaches them about compassion, consequences, and empowers their decision making along these lines? Blaming it on poorly understood concepts and unexplained mechanisms as you have is the abuse of science. Now you're making a new claim. Fine.

Saying that women need to be covered up and sheltered is to punish them. It takes away their power. It downplays the need for their education. It essentially says they aren't capable of making the correct choice so I will make it for them. What's more, it's leaves unchallenged the system that makes money off of their exploitation.

Driving is an arbitrary benchmark. Teen pregnancy is down to the lowest rate in a decade. This is on the heels of access to birth control and forward thinking sex education classes.

What I was and still am proposing is to instead of making intuitive and emotional appeals let's look at the statistical studies done on the subject.

I'm glad we agree on somethings, though.

Our brains are fundamentally mechanical. A person who has a diminished capacity for abstract reasoning and self-awareness is less likely to make rational decisions. You can't theorize around this basic biological fact. Nature doesn't care about our high-minded principles. We do educate children, but we don't labor under the illusion that education exists separately from the biological limits of a still-forming brain. We can't teach a 5 year old Calculus.

>Saying that women need to be covered up and sheltered is to punish them. It takes away their power.
Our society is built on taboos that function to tamper some of our baser instincts, and those taboos apply equally to men and women. The notion that the excesses of absolute freedom can always be mediated by education is simply a naive myth. If there's no societal bulwark against violence and tribalism, then they'd be even more common than they currently are. The fear of ostracization is a much more powerful method of sublimation than enlightenment is.

>Teen pregnancy is down to the lowest rate in a decade. This is on the heels of access to birth control and forward thinking sex education classes.
Correlation, causation, etc. This is also on the heels of the fact that teens are having less sex overall, that abortions are becoming more socially accepted, and that pediatricians push birth control earlier than they've ever had.

>What I was and still am proposing is to instead of making intuitive and emotional appeals let's look at the statistical studies done on the subject.
Studies can only tell us what's the case in a very narrow sense. It can't impart to us the importance of particular values, or understand the effects of what it's studying on wider present and future cultures. Studies of The Pill can tell us that there are fewer unwanted pregnancies, but it can't tell us the effects it has on social cohesion, monogamy, and demographics.

This isn't rocket science. Being a virgin implies you have minimal to no interaction with women, which means you're inexperienced, which means you're more easily aroused and more likely to have sex on the brain even in situations that are non-sexual.
>>
>>9753664
The likelihood of having sex on the brain depends more on age, genes, and whether or not you've cum recently (either by masturbation or sex). I don't think that virgins are necessarily hornier.
>>
>>9753675
Someone whose sex drive isn't being satisfied is more likely to have it on the brain. Masturbation really doesn't satisfy it, it's a low quality postponement of urges at best.

Of course, it also has to do with whether you're a perverted social reject or not.
>>
>>9753266
>>9753514
The insinuation of women in combat should be an interesting experiment. Ask yourself, what would happen if you armed a female elk with antlers and tilted the rutting arena against males with the likes of "affirmative action," "sexual harassment laws," and the Violence Against Women Act? One scenario, described by anthropologist Margaret Mead (Male and Female) is the men dropping out. You can already see signs in university enrollments and medicine.
A second scenario is rampant lesbianism, an end to marriage and family as institutions for procreation and a plummeting population. In ancient Greece, according to historian Will Durant because neither parent wanted the burden of children entire cities became ghost towns. Psychologist Leonard Sax has pointed out the rise in the percentage of women who self-identify as lesbian or bisexual from 2% to 15% over the past 20 years or so. Lisa Diamond (Sexual Fluidity) believes women's sexuality is malleable. Sax argues that it is caused by guys urging girls to kiss each other at parties, by male obsession with pornography and by males being losers. As I see it, the main cause is the growing number of male losers, as today, thanks to working woman and a tilted playing field, more and more males unable to attain the wealth, status, and power women demand, drop out of the competition. That leaves more and more women frustrated in their search for Mr. Right.
An interesting book in this regard is The Mountain People, by Colin M. Turbull. What may need reforming are the reforms instituted in the 1960s. In this regard, feminist historian Gertrude Himmelfarb has called for a return to the "virtuous" Victorian 1950s but excludes working women from her reform. If The Mountain People and George Gilder's cogent arguments in Sexual Suicide have any validity, working woman is the ground zero of our deconstructing society.

>>
>>9752905
lol
>>
>>9754941
Im a CPA at a big 4 firm. Making partner is doable, but thats going to be the biggest part of your life. Youll have to prioritise it over family, recreation, everything.

Every partner I know is a shitty father and husband, but they are loaded and like what they do.

You could start your own firm and be partner the day after you get certified, but I dont think you were asking about that.

Im out of the DC area, the market for lawyers is super saturated, so a lot of the JDs I know arent working as lawyers.

It comes down to what you like studying and doing. I always liked order, lists, tracking, rules, etc, so accounting was right up my alley.

In my experience, good lawyers are really amazing writers. Not sure if thats a personal characteristic, or if thats something law school develops.
>>

By that I mean, they articulate their points clearly.
>>
>>9753712
The way I see it, that's all a bunch of bullshit. Sounds really nice and maybe even well thought out, but guess who produced that entire theory? A male loser.

Most males AND females are "losers" if you really want to be honest about it, and there are still more male "winners" then there are females. We are actually living in a hypermasculine society - hence the increased lesbianism. Autism is now cherished because the sciences and technology fields require a high level social operating form of autism to compete in them. Competition in all work fields has expanded globally; you were once competing with neighboring farmers, then you were competing state-wide or with neighboring countries, and now you compete with people on the other side of the world. Competitiveness is higher than ever and there is as much a demand for discipline as there was in the past. Entertainment glorifies violence as much as it always has, and we now have an entire male-dominated form of it that is founded entirely on the masculine drives. We are leaning in a highly intellectual climate where you must have a strong thirst for knowledge to get by and insight into marketing data is invaluable to have. The intellect is masculine. Women are becoming men, is what your data really means; men are engulfing women.

That all sounds bretty legit. Only thing I'd be concerned about is the lack of time for reading. I don't know about CPA's but most lawyers I know work like 70 hrs/week. The thing is I know more people in law and a feel like I'd prefer the whole culture surrounding the legal profession more so than accounting types, but I'm a math/linguistics double major (analytic philosophy/logic fag) and I think with respect to the actual work, I might prefer accounting.

My biggest fear with becoming an accountant is that I might get stuck making $60k/year just preparing taxes or whatever it is that entry level accounting-fags do.

The only "fun" reading you'll have time for is reading business and management books. Unless you want to spend your vacation time on just reading instead of anything else.

> Only thing I'd be concerned about is the lack of time for reading.

Get into one of the big firms. That's the bottom rung salary. If you're competent you'll move up and make more soon enough. 70-80 hour weeks are common though, so buckle in.

What skews the accounting field is for every CPA working on big things you'll have 70-80 "debbie from accountings" that have taken a junior college course and help file away receipts.

This happens to the people that major in Accounting, but don't do any graduate school or get the CPA certification.

If you're going the Accounting route, go further than that. The base level accountant role sucks. (it's comfy if you don't want too much out of life though)

I wrote a long thing but then deleted it. Here is the simple truth:

I have time for one thing and one thing only–Law. Only enter this profession if you have no other hobbies or interests. And no, i am not exaggerating.

I have a circle of About 15 friends in the profession. The ones who weren't in relationships by the end of law school are all still single, 2 years out. We all work nights and weekends. We're uniformly on our phones at all times, responding to emails and answering calls.

I used to write creatively and do stand-up comedy. I had a girlfriend but law school ruined that for us, as it did for a lot of my classmates.

It is a very noble profession. It takes a certain type of person with a certain type of motivation. If you have any inkling that this is not something you want to fully give your life to, then don't do it.

>being attracted to a fertile female
>pedophilia

>Search statistics show that girls about 14 are the most searched for: http://i.imgur.com/2QdRaXX.jpg
>An internet survey was carried out as part of the documentary "Are All Men Pedophiles?" in which men were shown pictures of females without being informed of their age and asked if they found them sexually desirable or not. Girls about 14 got the highest ratings: http://i.imgur.com/92eizz6.png

>In this study men rated female faces about 13 years old the most attractive: http://www.epjournal.net/articles/facial-olfactory-and-vocal-cues-to-female-reproductive-value/ Other studies show similar results. In one study (which I don't have a link for) men were asked to manipulate a computer generated female face until they thought it was ideal and the most attractive. The face they came up with had the dimensions seen in the faces of girls about 13.

>It's known that facial attractiveness plays a much bigger role in determining overall attractiveness than bodily attractiveness, so these studies are strong evidence that men generally find adolescent girls the most desirable.

>"Catch a Predator" type shows usually use girls about 14 as bait because that's what draws the most men.

>The fact that the most popular age for porn actresses is the minimum legal age (18) strongly suggests that what the market wants is girls under that age. If there were no legal restrictions the most popular age for girls in the porn industry would be likely to be a few years younger.

>Men generally find the BMI about 17-20 the most attractive. This is the typical BMI for girls about 13. http://egomoral.com/thinner-females-are-more-attractive/ US girls BMI http://i.imgur.com/crGyCGd.jpg Indian girls BMI http://i.imgur.com/dbe7VIf.jpg

>The vulvas that get posted in “Post up the best looking pussies” threads on porn sites always look like they belong to girls about 12 or 14. They are nice and neat with little or no pubic hair and have a virginal, slightly immature look about them. (A vulva that’s tight and fresh looking is a sign that the girl it belongs to hasn’t started reproducing yet and still has all of her fertile years ahead of her.)

>The porn site motherless allows users to create their own groups that other people can view and post in. Before they got strict these were the top ten groups:
>Young
>Stickam
>Incest
>Jailbait
>Daughters
>Teen
>deutsche teens
>little puff nipples and hairless pussys
>School Girls
>Very Cute Only

>The "Young" group was mostly filled with girls about 14. If there were no legal restrictions that's what the porn industry would be using.

>Similarly, before reddit got strict one of the most popular subreddits was /r/jailbait which was devoted to pictures and videos of girls about 12-16. This subreddit was so popular it was the first thing that came up in google when people searched for "reddit".
All of this is in very close agreement with what biology predicts about male preferences (watch "Tears Of The Amazon" to see what I mean about breast pertness): http://i.imgur.com/mQNlOyO.png

Honestly I feel like it just comes down to luck. The applicant pool is very qualified, and obviously there aren't a gigantic number of positions. I don't even speak any of the "good" languages that are super in demand right now (Arabic, Urdu, Chinese, etc.). I feel like in my experience, it's just a matter of studying hard to pass the exam (no penalty for a retake though), having a killer personal statement, and just having the right temperament to do well in all of the different levels and types of assessments they give you. Lots of hoping for the best.

I will say this, though: it takes forever. I did academic work to not starve to death while the process went through.

it's ok. it's not a job anyone ever gets rich doing but it's pretty well paid.

i mainly do stuff for programmers like documentation for APIs and so on. i'm a freelancer so i am never in a place long enough for it to get too boring. also i have enough other sideline work to keep me busy most of the time.

i don't recall ever writing a warning label but i did once write the terms and conditions for the english translation of a piece of japanese software which was incredibly frustrating since i don't speak japanese and everything had to go through two translators.

Have read Haggard, Kipling's Kim, Sabatini (Scaramouche is good)- kind of been focusing on French Revolutionary sailing stuff as of late (O'Brian, Forester, Kent) but have also recently picked up a Cornwell (Sharpe's Rifles) and will probably begin that series this wkend. This stuff's alot of fun, a bit mindless, but perfect for the heat.
Have been thinking of HF for a while now, haven't read it since school. Liked it last time out.
