I enjoyed it and read it before I really got into Hesse, Camus, Dostoevsky or Nitchee. I had read Hemingway before but saw him in a different light after reading The Outsider.
What the hell is he talking about when he mentions the "Outsider?" Is it some ontological concept, some deity? What constitutes its essence? And why does he bring it up so much?

It's a good introduction to existentialist philosophy and fiction. More advanced readers might find it a bit basic. I read it at 19, which I think was a good age to read it because I was just starting to get into Dostoevsky and Nietzsche and the book made me excited about reading more of them
