I can't write anything decent. I create whole stories on my mind but as soon as I try to write it down I ruin it. How to get better?
Please spare me of that "read more" faggotry because already I read a lot.

Read more. And if that fails, it's time to pack it up.

#1 Write, write, and write until your fingers bleed and you find your voice.

#2 Stop wasting your time browsing /lit/ and decide if you really want to be an author or just some person wasting time on the internet like me.

#3 Learn the intricacies of the English language, or whatever your language is. Become an expert, learn the "rules," and then forget about them.

#4 Keep reading a lot, but also take time to analyze each book you read, especially books you really liked. Look at the structure of the sentence, of the paragraph, etc.

#5 Avoid pornography until you write your first novel. Fapping is allowed once every two or three weeks.

#6 Stay hydrated but avoid alcohol.

#7 You're a genius all the time.

Its natural to suck at first, practice is what makes perfection the only author to write a bestselling on its first-ish try was 50th shades of grey, but you don't really consider that ''book'' decent hum?

Drop the pride, there is NOTHING wrong in failure as long as you learn something, failure was fatal back in the day when if you tried a new method to find aliment with a 80x20 success/failure ratio, but in case of failure the whole tribe would die, then it would be fatal. But newsflash: The world won't stop spinning because you first book is trash, or your blog/youtube channel doesn't skyrocket like you expected

Being a writer you just need to write, to be a dancer you just need to dance, to be a painter you just need to paint, to be an artist you just need to produce art

Success is relative and personal anyways

Also. Learn to enjoy the process otherwise there is no reason for you to be creating instead of just working like any normal person

What kind of books do you read?
>>
>>9747433
Write more, for fuck's sake. Practice! Fuck the stories in your mind, make one up that you don't give a fuck about and start experimenting. Eventually, get it critiqued to see where and how people shit on you to see what you're fucking up on, if anything, and continue to write. How do you get better at something? YOU FUCKIN' PRACTICE! Jesus...

Forget the story in your head. Let the story play out as you write it.

Writing to a strict plan is like keeping a plant in a vase too long. It needs room to grow and expand.

Do you read books on writing?
Do you have people that can give you good feedback on your writing?
Do you read widely?
>>

Oh look! A frogposter with no artistic ability! Absolutely shocking!

stop believing your thoughts pre-exist their expression in language

I think I'm learning to write better.

Don't just read a book, analyse it. If you have to, photocopy a chapter and go all ballistic annotating every single thing you notice.

Stick to a topic you know a lot about. Really into trains, the autistic frog that you are? Use it to your advantage.

Try doing world-building exercises. Write down a random sentence, then expand upon it one thought at a time. Keep doing that until you get something good to work with, and then use that as a reference to write a story.

Write something every day, even if it's shit. Every week or so go back and read it all, or preferably get one of your friends to. Something that made perfect sense back then might've actually been undecipherable gibbering.
