Ibsen thread, discuss his works and tell us why you love a certain play over any other. I recently got 'Ghosts and Other Plays' and was wondering whether I stumbled on anything overtly patrician.

Nah, Ibsen's hella chill and hella easy.
Enemy of the People is my favorite from him, but I haven't read all that much of his works. Ghosts is pretty good, even if it's stupidly convoluted.

If it wasn't for Shakespeare, Ibsen would be remembered as the GOAT playwright. Rosmersholm is probably his most patrician, if you don't count the text to Peer Gynt
When We Dead Awaken
I like how Helmer is a nice guy in Et dukkehjem, but when he loses his temper at the end. (Because his wife is lying) He's suddenly the bad guy. Really makes me think.
Nora is of course upset because they never had a serious conversation, about the family, about money and so on. But she takes no responsibility for this herself. Nor does she care she has been dishonest the whole play. Helmer is acting quite ridiculous at the end though.

I saw a recent production of Hedda Gabler and it's basically A Doll's House but all the characters are way more interesting
