I try to avoid reading genre fiction and definitely never read science fiction.

I've read 3BP, but I haven't gotten around to the other two books. I thought the sophons were a little stupid, but overall an excellent book, probably the first good Hugo since Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrell.

Everybody praises the Cultural Revolution -> Fuck Humanity train of thought. My personal favorite aspect though was the portrayal of immersive media to surreptitiously build sympathy with the invaders.
