nah, just starting. pretty hyped after the introduction, been a while since i read stirner. for people who have only read the old translation, i'd recommend reading stirner's critics and landstreicher's intro to that before this - he mentions critics a few times in the new intro.

I read part of "The Free" as a kind of sampler because it is my favorite part and I was debating whether to tead the new translation. My impression is that the prose is smoother, easier to read but in some ways I kind of prefer the old translation's word choices. The humor seems more dry with outdated verbiage I guess and I like that. It being an easier read is good though because I am an idiot.

I had this concern too as he is a lefty anarchist and I'm not really (though I used to was). This is another reason I checked out The Free as in this section Stirner pretty thoroughly demolishes the ideological foundations of the left. Seemed legit to me, from what I read.

Well that's a bit rude for a minor quibble. Are you really pumped from listening to Against Me really loud or something? I'm not sure I would say post leftists hate the fuck out of the left. Even in the really ornery ones like Bob Black I still find a vein of that old leftism. I say this as some one who was into anarchism and then found more kindred ideas in post left and then moved out of thinking very politically all together. They are still pretty well situated within the left, in my opinion anyway. I'm not really interested in debating what counts as left or anything though.
