Also, it all depends on the book really. As far as quality, I prefer penguin classics as the plastic on the cover often peels on the Oxfords, but that does vary by book. Really whichever you get is fine - the notes and introduction are generally good enough in both. More extensive in the Oxfords I have but you really don't need it all. Your decision should just be based on price and translation - or maybe cover if you're a faggot like me.

Oxford, not even close. Only get Penguins if they have a particular translation that is better than what Oxford provides.

Oxford by a country mile. Almost universally has the best translation, superior paper, covers and notes.
That said Penguin is cheaper so if the book was written in English I do sometimes go with them.

They both aren't usually that great and are just the cheapest options there are with a still reasonable amount of quality. There are usually better editions.

I ordered an oxford because someone here said the quality of their paper is better. It came in today and I dont think it is. Its still alright though and cheaper than penguin.
But if you can spare the few extra bucks penguin is good.
