It's good but to appreciate it properly you need to know about + be interested in the historical period in which it's set

What I mean is, if you're interested in that slice of Russian history/society during the Soviet era, it's a really worthwhile book to read. Otherwise you won't get that much out of it and it's not worth it. Imo
Really fucking loved it if not for the 6-7 chapters that stretched it out at the end. Also anyone else feel there was a massive shift half way through?
