I don't think so. The plot and cast of characters aren't hard to grasp, it's the vague structure and unstable narrator that make it confusing. It's not particularly complex at all.
Would you say its on the same level of complexity as say Ulysses or Gravity's Rainbow

I hated this book. I put it down after I got 60% through. Not particularly difficult, but tedious because the characters are childish and it dialogue is insufferable (and there is too much of it). I suppose it was a compelling read in the socio/cultural atmosphere of its time, but if you went to a liberal university and went through an exploratory phase of your own, this book won't give you any new revelations.
