That's unfortunate, the book was a pain for me to get too (took a couple months ordering it from the UK to Canada) but a great read. Any of the more religious/existential Kazantzakis works would also share similar themes to the painting you posted, although not as well as Father Yanaros in The Fratricides.
Check out The Last Temptation of Christ or Christ Recrucified also by Kazantzakis if you can find them.
