what?
so, you are writing about some stupid story about your depression and that make you incapable to read something like borges?
>>9702203
no, I just get distracted when reading thinking about my own prose or story structure and realize I'm not paying attention to what I'm reading now.

other way around for me

I share your feel OP
Started working on a novel and now I feel sort of intimidated when I read books and keep thinking about my own work

OP, ignore the children. This board is fucking juvenile, and generally ignorant.
What you say is an actual phenomenon. Norman Mailer wrote about his treatise on writing called "The Spooky Art". I highly recommend it. Cheers!
After writing my own book it is difficult to find books that are as interesting/valuable, because I feel that my book answers it all. Maybe some of you can guess who I am.

This is also another factor because reading other books is not as enjoyable, and neither is life as enjoyable, because you constantly have to compare your work to others and check if your ideas hold up.
