Answer the following (this is not data mining)

>What do you like about /lit/
>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
>Why are you on /lit/?
>>
>>9690143
>What do you like about /lit/
no social pressure to agree or tolerate
>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
sexism (both Ironic and sincere are the same)
-fix this by engaging with everyone sincerely regardless of their position. read female authors
fear of contemporary works
-engage with contemporary authors more often
>Why are you on /lit/?
I enjoy asking for works with certain genetics and seeing what the autistic google can provide (same thing as /mu/)
>>
>>9690143
>>What do you like about /lit/
teaching kids about poetry
>>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
kids are stupid and think they know everything. there is no fixing it, only time will allow them to grow out of it
>>Why are you on /lit/?
i'm bored and waiting for my caramel popcorn to finish baking
>>
>What do you like about /lit/
It's a place where I can talk to people about books without the veneer of celebrity or mainline opinions. I am exposed to literature that's outside my usual interests and it promotes more philosophy than I experience in class.
>What do you dislike about it
Shitting on translations when none of you fags can really tell the difference, recommend the first translation you read, or parroting what's been meme'd on this board. Other than that I'd say disregarding or devaluating books you were assigned in high school because they're commonly read. They're still good books and have value. Both these and other problems essentially come down to hivemind culture and people unironically taking memes seriously.
>Why are you on /lit/
I'm a NEET who reads books.
>>
>>9690143
>What do you like about /lit/
The banter and the earnest discussions about books.
>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
I sometimes see threads talking about concepts I'm utterly unable to grasp. Guess I have to read more to fix it
>Why are you on /lit/?
To get recommendations on books and other works. For the bantz also
>>
Q1: Free discussion about one of my favorite subjects. Of course there're certain things you'll get shit for if you say you like or dislike, but for the most part, opinions are diverse.
Q2: 90% of /lit/ are grotesquely pretentious assholes. also sexism as anon above noted.
Q3: I love literature, but as much as I do I want/need to learn more and this is a surprisingly helpful source. I also like talking with others with shared interests.
>>
>>9690143
>>What do you like about /lit/
sperging about books
>>What do you dislike about it
moralfags sperging without reading books.
>(and how could it potentially be fixed)
shame and sperging about books.
>>Why are you on /lit/?
many wrong things about books to sperg about

throw butter and brown sugar together in a pot and boil it until it becomes caramel, add salt+bakingsoda+vanilla extract.

pop some popcorn, throw it in a big mixing bowl. toss the popcorn in your caramel, coat it up all good.

bake for an hour at 250. comes out crunchy and yummy, better than the stuff that you can buy in big tins during holiday season, imo. as far as i'm aware this is the standard method of making caramel popcorn

why would you bump with that when i used the word sperging three times? i thought there might be marshmallows [confection, not flowers] but i will investigate that elsewhere, thank you.

what is this meme?
>>

>>What do you like about /lit/

Discussing and finding new literature with the not too edgy part of 4chan's culture

>>What do you dislike about it(and how could it potentially be fixed)

There arent that many people and 21th century literature arent common. I rarely read one as it feels like im searching in the dark, but im sure that there are good writers in this age as well.

>>Why are you on /lit/?

Couldve let this question out. The parts that i liked.

sexism.
/r9k/ spillover because /r9k/ is too fast.
rupi kaur, lana leav hate threads.
savannah hate threads.
ontologicool hate threads.
harold bloom threads.
jk rowling hate threads.
dfw hate threads. (yes, I've read infinite jest and oblivion.)
reading groups.
nick land threads.
>>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
people angrily attacking each other and defending themselves pointlessly instead of simply saying their piece and getting on with it
>>Why are you on /lit/?
loneliness. relative immersion in literary community.
>>
>>9690143
>>What do you like about /lit/
The honesty. The memes. The discussion that sometimes occurs.
>>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
Sci-Fi generals, how easy they get triggered, and when /pol comes or roleplaying /lit anons
>>Why are you on /lit/?
/lit/ - Literature
>>
>What do you like about /lit/
People actually read your posts and reply thoughtfully.

>What do you dislike about it
Threads asking for best translation of [classic]. Threads asking if [publisher] books are 'good'. I don't get why there are so many a day. I'm yet to see a reply of any relevance.

>Why are you on /lit/?
People don't call each other SJWs or cucks that much. They can actually come up with insults.
>>
>>What do you like about /lit/
Wolfefags
More self aware and sincere than most places while retaining a healthy dose elitism
>>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
/pol/ crossposters
/r9k/ crossposters
Some of the Christfags and Marxists (most of them are OK)
e-celeb and twitter poetry threads
How to fix:
Create /celeb/ board or move them to /trash/.
Create a moderation standard like /a/ has and report off topic threads.
>>Why are you on /lit/?
No friends to talk about books with.

>What do you like about /lit/
There are actual useful discussions here sometimes. Sometimes I encounter knowledgeable lurkers or book recommendations that lead to new ideas / writing prompts.

>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
Non-lurking philosofaggots out prove how little they know. Stupid "stop ____" zenposter threads. Could be fixed by registration and bans, but then it's not 4chan.

>Why are you on /lit/?
Because I like it. (see above)
>>
>>9690849
>loneliness.
Perhaps your fandom of hate threads is part of the larger issue?
>>
>What do you like about /lit/
Book recommendations, especially the more unknown ones. Best thing is when there's a narrow request and great recs are given.
Also elitism.

>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
Movie and GRRM fagets.

>Why are you on /lit/?
Only place I know where people talk about literature both enthusiastically and funny.
>>
>>9690143
>>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
Rigorous adherence to the canon, and the revolving door of new posters making the same threads every day. The top 100 also ruin it by advertising.
>>
>>9690978
duh
your point? be my girlfriend and make me into a more positive person then faggot
>>
>>9690994
That's your job not mine. But I applaud your farsightedness, many others similarly situated to you are blind to the reciprocal nature of festishizing hate/intense dislike and their closing off from the world (then reported as loneliness).

>sexism (both Ironic and sincere are the same)
>read female authors

“I have a terrible confession to make—I have nothing to say about any of the talented women who write today. Out of what is no doubt a fault in me, I do not seem able to read them. Indeed I doubt if there will be a really exciting woman writer until the first whore becomes a call girl and tells her tale. At the risk of making a dozen devoted enemies for life, I can only say that the sniffs I get from the ink of the women are always fey, old-hat, Quaintsy Goysy, tiny, too dykily psychotic, crippled, creepish, fashionable, frigid, outer-Baroque, maquillé in mannequin’s whimsy, or else bright and stillborn. Since I’ve never been able to read Virginia Woolf, and am sometimes willing to believe that it can conceivably be my fault, this verdict may be taken fairly as the twisted tongue of a soured taste, at least by those readers who do not share with me the ground of departure—that a good novelist can do without everything but the remnant of his balls.” — Advertisements for Myself, Norman Mailer
>>
>What do you like about /lit/
It got me on the path of reading and writing.
Occasional decent recommendations.
>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
/Pol/shit. Which could be fixed by having the mods do their goddamn job and exile them back to their quarantine board.
>Why are you on /lit/?
Crippling loneliness.
Also because I don't go to my mom for recs since she seems to only read contemporary crime thrillers.
>>
>>9690143
>What do you like about /lit/
A little slower and has more substance than other boards. I like the subjects and wish pol or even his were more this pace.
>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
It's not really something I dislike about this board but I wish the subject matter was wider. Perhaps could post gore or porn memes. I like /lit/ but it gets little traction because it has no fantacism. I'd love a hearty analytic vs continental meme war on here but this doesn't have that fire. I love the subject matter so it's just stuck where it is.
>Why are you on /lit/?
I like the subject matter. Passes time and opens me up to more works that another medium doesn't offer yet
>>
>>9690143
>>What do you like about /lit/
solid recommendations from time to time, no inherent social order and some funny memes
>>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
like everything else it becomes stale after some time, nothing to do about that.
>>Why are you on /lit/?
to kill time
>>
>>9690143

>What do you like about /lit/
I came here to learn how to write better, but I mostly enjoy the arguments over definitions and philosophy that crop up. I've had plenty of my beliefs challenged and my mind opened by reading them. There is debate and most importantly it is not /pol/.
>What do you dislike about it (and how could it potentially be fixed)
I wish that people would discuss literary techniques and their application more.
>Why are you on /lit/?
I know precisely what I want to write but I don't know the best ways of doing so. I've read books and researched a good deal and of course write, but browsing /lit/ I occasionally come across a new way of doing things that I hadn't thought of before, and that I don't find in other sources. Perhaps just simple exposure to a reading community.
