Is Emil Cioran basically the character Kirillov from Demons IRL?

This man is the fucking Antichrist. Whenever I start getting my shit together and feeling positive about life, I'll stumble across one of his aphorisms and sink into a black pit of bile and nihilism for the next several months. He's the prophet of nothingness, tedium and confusion, probably the most evil man to have ever lived

he's just sad :(

You serious? I always read him when I'm depressed and his humor cheers me up.

Cioran is the coolest dude. I bet if he was alive today he would love Rick and Morty.

He would probably like Rick and Morty!

My friend, you know this is a Romanian Riverboat Reading Room right?

Right. Although I am curious as to how he is received over there.

Can somebody post an excerpt from Ligotti? I don't get how you guys get spooked by him so hard.

He has essays too, usually a few pages long

>call a man the antichrist while he's down
Well at least its in keeping with the general purview of Christian behavior

Whenever I'm feeling down about life, I read a few pages of ASHoD and laugh, remembering how strange and bad everything truly is.

Is there a way to unread stuff?
I used to have this feeling about life, but never really narrowed it down to something conscious. Then Cioran comes along and fucking nails it down.
God I'm so sad

I agree with this anon.
Sometimes his overly cynical view on things would make me feel better and I'd get back on track towards my life pursuits. There was also comfort knowing I wasn't alone with my thoughts when I was in a down spiral. The dude was incredibly young when he was writing melancholy this decrepit that.
Though I could see how some would get more depressed by reading Cioran.
