What would you say about this book?

How's the vocabulary? Is it hard? For example, 1984 had a relatively easy vocabulary for me, and Oliver Twist had pretty hard, tedious (especially with all the slang and footnotes). If Jane Eyre is somewhere inbetween or easier then I will probably read it.

What books is similar to it in terms of genre and themes it encompasses?

I've heard it's pretty hated here.
