I tried to get into magic and the occult a few years ago, read Agrippa, Paracelsus, plus some unknown authors. Couldn't believe in any of it. To do so, in this day and age, would be pure stupidity.

I agree with his themes, but I think he has a very basic (read: bad) prose, which made me never get into his works.

I read this in sophomore year of high school and I didn't think it was suitable for a literature class because it has very few literary elements. It's a nice story but there's little appeal beyond the feel good plot, and even there it is good in the way of The Chronicles of Narnia. It's basically a good children's book.
