Yeah, I've definitely never seen them mentioned. I've been interested in their work ever since I saw Tarkovsky's Stalker, so I was looking to get into their work.

The book Stalker is not as good as the film. Same for Solaris. The films are entirely different and you will be disappointed in the books I imagine. I was.

Move to Roadside Picnic(the book Stalker is based off of) after that. But, I have to warn you, the book does not feel like the movie very much. Also the book is set in Canada and all the character have actual names.

This is true for all the books other than Hard to be a God. Hard to be a Go does not match its film but it feels like its film. Also, it is my favorite of all their books.

Also, when I say "Hard to be a God does not match its film" I mean as in have the same plot point for point. The Book is better than the Movie.
