I love Vollmann. I love his non-fiction most of all. I love the way he combines a naive, gushing writing style with the seedy underworld of america. I love the fact that he interviews hookers for source material whilst painting their vaginas (he found they were less comfortable if he just interviewed them straight). I love his lack of pretentiousness and absolute acceptance of humanity in all its forms.

He comes across as a swell guy in interviews too.
