Hi /lit/,
I have a bunch of books that I've been wanting to read, but I have a hard time visually organizing and comparing my selections. They fall into a lot of categories, so a simple outline format in Microsoft Word is a giant pain in the ass and doesn't suit my needs. I don't think Excel has been a better help either.
What is an easy tool to use to organize my booklists? I already have the labels, I just want to apply my own labels to organize them in a way that doesn't utterly confuse me or slow down my computer. Bonus points if it does not require online functionality and does not require anything larger than a 17" notebook screen to navigate effectively.
Thanks!
How does everyone organize their booklists? With Word? Excel? Notepad?
just use goodreads

Fuck Goodreads. I'm not using that shit so somebody can datamine my shit. I just want a simple offline tool.

Digital solutions are generally faster and less cumbersome.
Calibre
even if you're an inferior human being who doesn't use ebooks you can input your titles and I think have it look for covers and metadata on its own, then you can display them in whatever ways you want and add custom categories, labels, whatever

Can it organize books on your wish lists, like books that you have yet to download or purchase?
Just use some sort of note taking app on your phone
Google keep syncs your shit so you can view it across all platforms
Wtf is this
Just read the books

I just save the charts off of the /lit/ wiki and cross off the books i've read in paint after I'm finished. Same thing I do with music, anime, movies/tv, and gaming charts too. I keep a Goodreads too, just for the hell of it.

What did he mean by this?

Anything with a red scribble on it, I've read. Anything without, I haven't. Simple as that.

My booklist got too big and I've had a hard time figuring out what I should read next.

If you want to "visually organize" as OP is saying, I don't see any option but to go ahead and download/purchase everything on your wishlist and use Calibre or another ebook library app....
The only other option would be to use a web-based service like GoodReads, and he already said he won't do that.
I fucking love Calibre, but you have to have the books first. My library is almost 4k, so it's an essential tool for me.
