I get angry when I hear or see the words "gender" or "race" because I know that the person is then going to talk about how we aren't paying enough attention to someone rather than showing why we should care.
If they did something worthy, then you shouldn't need to bring up what group their belong too. It's like saying we should honor fat people or drinkers because they can do something of worth, so what? That matters to me how? Because they are different that makes them special?
