Why is alcohol so good for writing?

something something good slave and a bad master

It's good insofar as it limits self-censorship and allows you to get words on the page. Terrible for editing, though.

It isn't, but this board is full of insecure and impressionable teenagers who think it's cool.
I find writing, much like reading, to be a process that requires way too much thought and focus to be drinking alongside of it.
May be a personal issue, but I turn into a retard when I drink and the remaining mental capacity only allows me to listen to music and jack off.

It isn't.
>>9608371
Its not, its just something alcoholic degenerate writers say to justify their vices
>>9608486
Gee...maybe that's why absolute geniuses are so fond of it.
Because it helps them stop thinking for a little while and they can act like retards.
>>9608371
Helps you accept that your first draft will suck and that writing needs to start regardless.

This pic gives me banana fish vibes. Probably how our boy's QT wife looked desu.

I guess so.
You get to "let go" for a while and be highly stimulated by simple things. Not that I want to call myself a genius or even a good writer, but it's also partially a reason why I get drunk. It's exhausting having to occupy yourself with highly mentally challenging things all the time in order to not feel miserable. Drinking then feels like a small vacation.

You're right

Is it? Now that I'm confident in my own writing abilities, alcohol just seems distracting. I have serious problems focusing for long periods of time, so nootropics have been a godsend, especially Phenylpiracetam and Coluracetam. I hope it turns out that they truly are good for your brain and help prevent Alzheimer's disease. I'd hate to find out twenty years from now that they're actually bad for me.
Phenylpiracetam worries me because it's basically non-euphoric legal speed, but it's so useful for getting through a large volume of work in one sitting. Coluracetam is supposedly really good for your brain, especially if you've ever taken Benadryl more than just a few times in your life.
Anyway alcohol basically just distracts me. I imagine there's an optimal amount of alcohol to consume that is useful. I used to drink a beer or two when proofreading my work, but anything more than that, and my writing goes to shit.

Can't wait for your book, friend. I'm sure it will be spectacular despite you having never experienced anything outside of your mother's basement.
