Seconded. Some of it I understand, but a lot of his poems are just way out there. But Stephen King understood him well enough to base his Magnum opus on his work so I guess we suck.

Read his Selected Later Poems through and I guarantee in some strange way youll begin to if not 'understand' him, at least begin to 'get' him. It's worth it.

Olson is great but so much of the Maximus Poems is masturbation. I'd suggest starting with his Selected Poetry and make sure, make SURE, you read his essay Projective Verse.
