Vous que dans votre enfer mon âme a poursuivies,
Pauvres soeurs, je vous aime autant que je vous plains,
Pour vos mornes douleurs, vos soifs inassouvies,
Et les urnes d'amour dont vos grands coeurs sont pleins.

I balanced all, brought all to mind,
The years to come seemed waste of breath,
A waste of breath the years behind
In balance with this life, this death.

Traversare una strada per scappare di casa
lo fa solo un ragazzo, ma quest'uomo che gira
tutto il giorno le strade, non è più un ragazzo
e non scappa di casa.

Sein Blick ist vom Vorübergehn der Stäbe

I lift my drink and sing a song, for who knows if one's life is short or long?
Man's life is like the morning dew, past days many, future days few.
The melancholy my heart begets, comes from cares I cannot forget.
Who can unravel these sorrows of mine? I know of only one man, the god of wine!
