Astrid Lindgren, children's books. Some of her works have considerable depth, like Vi på Saltkråkan. It's worth pointing out there is a lot of variety among her books. For example, Mio Min Mio is a dreamy and melancholic fairytale. The Karlsson series is about a kid befriending a roof-dwelling fat guy who flies around with a propeller on his back and claims to be the best at everything even though he's good at nothing. The Emil books are simple tales about stuff Emil does like hoisting his little sister up the flagpole. Etc.

Swedish literature is awful. Nothing but post-Christian nonsense. It's highly moralistic, tepid, and gay as fuck. Read the old germanic sagas instead.
