What is the last book that has left you with the sad feeling of a great story being over? I don't know whether I hate or love that feeling, but as long as I keep getting it I know I'm reading great books.

i hated infinite jest while i was reading but i did cry at the end.
It was surreal. I think it's a good ending really is all.

For me it's good characters. Really well written characters make me not want to leave the world they're in.

The Thousand Autumns of Jacob de Zoet by David Mitchell
>>
The Plague.

Even though it ended on a rather optimistic note, l couldn't help but feel inexplicably sad at the end.

It's Camus' best book.
>>
The Toilers of the Sea.
I can't even hint at what happens without ruining everything, but it is beautiful.

The Savage Detectives

Crime and Punishment
One of the few books I would've loved to be 900+ pages

>Then, who is the murderer, Inspector?
>You are, my dear boy.
