Is that not the same argument we could make for crack addicts or homeless people? Not all of them are without a choice, even if they're abused and broken. Some just found out this is what works best for them (just like crackers stealing your wallet in spite of being offered treatment).

Also I'm assuming you don't mean forced assistance (compulsory working and such). That would be the one thing to work on everyone but it's not so ethical.
