How do I know if I like a book?
How do you know that you like a certain book? What is your criteria for saying a book good
Having a problem this. It isn't as instinctive as music.

>how do i know if i like a book
It is as instinctive as music. You either like something or you don't. That said, like everything, the more you know about it (i.e. the more experience you have), the more you will notice small things that will influence your enjoyment of some works. But really, knowing if you like something or not is a pretty simple thing.
It's a different question than "how do I know if a book is (objectively) good" though, which requires you to have some technical knowledge or at least an informed opinion so as know why it is good or bad.
"X is good" and "I like X" are not correlated statements.
I attach sensors to my penis which measure fluctuations in length, girth, warmth and firmness to get an overall sense of my arousal while reading. This data is run through software on my computer, converting it into a 1 to 5 star rating which it posts on goodreads.
>tfw since I started listening to classical music I have the same problem but in reverse
Ok, it's not really a problem to me, I don't have autism, but I really can't attach numerical ratings to this sort of music.

Yes, these are two elements which can be taken in consideration when someone is asking themselves if they like a book.

thats because numerical ratings don't belong in music.
I read only things /lit/ talks about, so I like evrrything I read.

This is a good question.
One I don't know the answer too.
I know there are somethings that I hate to read, when obvious shlock, lies or agenda's are being pushed in my face.
But aside from that, nearly everything I read has the same impact on me, & I enjoy no piece more than any other.
Which is to say, I feel no special attachment for the written word beyond being an instrument for using my time.

>you read the book from beginning to end with minimal frustration but no strong emotional connection
Congrats you found a book ok and tolerable
>you compulsively read the book driven by a strong emotional or intellectual urge and you thought about it in depth as you read it and afterwards
Congrats you liked a book
>you did not finish the book
Congrats you have wasted your money
>I like books
>I read for fun
>I'm so nerdy heehee xd

Numerical ratings don't belong to any art form
