Read books until you find something similar to what you want to do, read that, learn from it, study it, and then write.

I guess that 200 is a good start if the novels are varied classics.
First read Ulysses. Then read 300 books found using a random number generator for ISBN's. Then read Ulysses again. Then watch all of Lucky Star in no more than 5 sittings and you should be set.
