What is Nabakov's best work other than Lolita? I only know about Pale Fire and that just seems like a long poem

Pale Fire is definitely not a long poem. That and Ada are his best imo.
Pale Fire is genius. Pnin is definitely up there as well, even though it's deceptively short.

This. Ada can be a slog at times though.
I also quite liked Despair. It's not as polished as his later stuff, but it's still pretty good and an easy read compared to Ada or Pale File.

invitation to a beheading, one of his early works, is a fun read. sort of his take on a kafka story
Pale Fire is great but don't bother with the notes is you understand poetry.

Pnin is also deceptively simple; there's a lot of cool stuff going on you miss on a first reading.
If you have any background in Russian lit, the Gift is probably his real masterpiece

Read The Real Life of Sebastian Knight and Camera Obscura (Laughter in the Dark stateside). Pale Fire's a novel disguised as 999 line poem, notes and index.

>long poem
You don't want to skip the notes and intro to this one.

>I enjoyed all the obscure phrases and words
Ada is that x 1000
It has its head way up its own ass and it's great
What do you guys think about his relatively flippant nature regarding pedophilia in his later works? I think he devalued himself retroactively by leaning too much towards humor.

Pale Fire is great. Ada is a bit of a bloated "cold pudding", read Pnin and Speak, Memory before you bother with Ada. It has some really cool thematic conceits and fantasy elements but they fizzle out in an absurdly drawn out fever dream
