The basic premise of the book is that using the internet a lot fucks with our attention spans, especially if you were raised by it. It's a fundamentally different form of interaction than, say, reading a book. I don't remember the book saying anything about us never using the internet again or something like that, but there is certainly a lament for people's lost ability to concentrate.

This seems fairly obvious, even based on empirical self-observation, I get the book has its place as it gathers all the evidence, but why would a layman read it if this is the general point?
